Angel is so over rated and Bumgarner is a stud.

Right now I have Bumgarner over Villalona, but it’s still close. Angel is still very young, and pitchers tend to get injured more than position players. I think the two are closer in value than you think. But I agree that the strikeout rate for Angel is worrisome. That’s the part of his hitting that I’m monitoring.

I’d write Misch off at this point. He has enough major league experience, all of it pointing in the same direction, that I can’t see him being anything other than a 10th or 11th man on any team’s roster.
As for Nate Schierholt….something funny is going on there. The Giants keep touting him and the Giants keep overlooking him. With all the new faces this year, with all the call-ups of players with fringe ability, they didn’t think there was any chance that Schierholtz could help them, even back a couple of months when they were within hailing distance of first place?

I think you’re right Lee in that Misch will never be anything more than a number five starter. An assessment of him would depend on whether or not you think he can be that back of the rotation starter at the major league level. If he can– and I hope he can– he has some value to a team. I’m willing to give him another year to prove himself. But then I still think Kevin Correia can be a number three starter, so…
