1. Here’s a puff piece on Jeremiah Luster from the Statesman Journal, the local paper that covers the Salem-Keizer Volcanoes. The article talks about how Luster felt he has matured since he was drafted four years ago. A little background info: Jeremiah was drafted in the 18th round of the 2004 draft as a toolsy middle infielder. I had put him on a list of players to watch, but thus far his tools have not translated to skills, as he has been sidetracked by multiple injuries. He has now made the shift to the outfield, which lowers his positional value. Right now I would hesitantly put him as a top 50 prospect, but he really needs to show me something this year.
2. Here’s a discussion on John Sickels’s blog on Madison Bumgarner. It’s filled with your usual internet detritus, but it’s nice to see Madison’s success being recognized by non-Giants boosters. Certainly makes me feel better about putting him first on my June Prospect list.
